Euro FX futures trading insights

Hello, I’m Mark,  a  part time futures trading aficionado who spends a goodly portion of his time in the Oracle DBA Architect consulting venue.  I love learning about new ways to trade the EuroFX or discovering a better Oracle optimization path to help keep the systems humming.

I was born in San Francisco, raised in Southern Oregon and received my Bachelor’s in Mathematics from Whitman College. After graduating, I’ve had the good fortune to experience the spectrum of the sophomoric to the sublime: Admissions Officer for Whitman, the Navy Nuclear Power Program and the moonlit solace of crossing the Indian ocean aboard the USS California , building out the first Novell local area network for Data Design Associates in Slicon Valley and moving on to being one of the first 100 employees at PeopleSoft Inc.  in Walnut Creek, CA. Nothing compares to the energy of a startup; the camaraderie, the passion, the verve and vanquishing customer conundrums at 2am with cold pizza and a network sniffer to keep you company  — well, maybe chocolate and seeing my Grandma’s smile is a close second.

Leaving PeopleSoft and starting my own independent consulting business in the early 90′s has afforded me the opportunity to step my toes in to the futures markets, learn a great deal about the methods and madness of becoming a skilled practitioner in reading the “Deer Sign” of the EuroFX futures market. This learning and practicum has come at a high price and I hazard to think what my Grandpa would say to me if he knew how much time and resources I’ve put into this ephemeral pursuit. Grandpa is no longer with us and I’m now at liberty to disclose my hidden penchant with his tacit approval from the heavens above — sort of.

PeopleSoft Oracle consulting and day trading the EuroFX futures are my passions and I am a slave to two masters; however, I’ve started this blog in 2010 to chronicle some of the methods to my madness in hopes that friends, relatives and fair minded onlookers may find value and insights into how one may take a dollar or two out of the CME’s EuroFX on a daily basis.

This information within should be accessible to someone who has at least 6 months of screen time day trading futures in a discretionary fashion. This is a blog for those who have skinned their knees a time or two, have been through the battles, the S&P doldrums of 5 point range days and are looking for some insights on how to trade a contract with a solid ROI and an order book that hasn’t been completely trashed by the institutional Algos.

If you’re on a “Grail Quest” — please, seek life elsewhere — nothing is perfect and you’ll bear witness to my losses along with the my rapturous and well deserved victories.

Parting Thoughts

If you would like to stay up-to-date with this blog, please subscribe via RSS or email. I will generally publish in-depth trade analysis about two to four times a week — comments and re-tweets appreciated: let the community be our muse.  Actually, I’m really torn about making this information public; the thought that some Noob would skip over tens of thousands of dollars in losses and years of screen time without going through the gut wrenching rights of passage kind of makes me wince, but my Counter Culture Master Trader friend, Bill Dureya of www.ioamt.com has worn me down and I suppose that leaves me with the reflective philosophical singularity: What the Hell, Why Not.
